Field testing reveals pump degradation and confirms existing system capacity

Boiler Feedwater Assessment Uncovers Hidden Pump Degradation

When a Gulf Coast refinery needed to determine whether future boiler feedwater demand would require additional pump capacity, field-validated testing revealed a different issue. One of four parallel pumps had experienced 90.4% performance degradation and was contributing no flow to the system.

Hydrus Works confirmed that the remaining three pumps could meet both current and anticipated future demand while maintaining N+1 redundancy. The findings allowed the refinery to address the degraded pump and avoid an unnecessary capital purchase.
